The Science Behind the Spray: How Our Natural Bug Killer Actually Works
What Makes Our Bug Spray So Different and Unique
About Our Natural Bug Spray
Our combination of a contact bug killer and a residual killer form an effective and long-lasting bug spray. This is made possible by the addition of a special ingredient with suspending and adhesion properties. This enables and multiplies both mechanisms of action.
The result is a single spray that offers a uniquely comprehensive, chemical-free solution to bed bugs and other insect pests for your home, giving you both immediate relief and long-term protection.
The Science Behind Our Spray
Natural Insect Pest Extermination Extinction
You’ve made the choice to use natural pest control, and you want to know it’s effective.
Our formula isn’t magic; it’s a precise combination of natural ingredients that work together in a scientifically sound way to provide both immediate and long-term protection.
An All-Star Team of Ingredients That Work Even Better Together
1. Diatomaceous Earth (DE): The Residual Killer
Diatomaceous Earth is a fine, chalky powder made from the fossilized remains of ancient diatoms found on the banks of freshwater lakes. Under a microscope, these tiny particles look like shards of glass.
Benefits of Our Formula: DE is a known effective bed bugs solution, but it can be very messy and dangerous if inhaled during sleep in large amounts. We immerse an effective amount in liquid so it doesn’t go airborne any more and cause a hazard or inconvenience to clean up later.
2. Liquid Potassium Salts of Fatty Acids: The Contact Killer
Potassium salts of fatty acids are non-toxic and made from plant-based oils. The active components, known as fatty acids, are highly effective at disrupting insect biology. They also binds to their trachea and spiracles to block their ability to breathe.
Benefits of Our Formula: Using DE alone may eliminate 90% of your bed bugs, but the remaining 10% may be stronger now as a result. By using potassium salts of fatty acids, we use an alternate means of achieving the same desired outcome. The result is exoskeleton penetration and dehydration, resulting in death.
3. Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES): The Key Synergist
Sodium Laureth Sulfate is a common surfactant derived from coconut oil. In our formula, it ties everything together and makes the active ingredients even more effective, with a texture that maximizes total efficacy.
How it works:SLES keeps the DE and potassium salts evenly mixed together, but even more importantly, as the spray dries, it helps the DE particles adhere to the treated surface, amplifying its effect on the insect.
Benefits of Our Formula: Combining a simple, natural ingredient that boosts the overall effectiveness of our bug spray yet does not cause adverse reactions to skin like its more commonly known counterpart, Sodium Laurel Sulfate (SLS), enabled us to increase the spray’s efficacy while improving upon products of its kind. SLES is a milder ingredient created from SLS through a process called ethoxylation that makes it less irritating to the skin and eyes.
The Supporting Cast: Trace Ingredients
While DE, potassium salts of fatty acids, and SLES are the primary workhorses, our spray also contains trace ingredients that ensure maximum effectiveness and a stable, high-quality product.
Specialized Distilled Water: The foundation of our formula is water, but not just any water. We use specialized distilled water that has been purified to remove all minerals and impurities. This prevents mineral deposits from clogging the spray nozzle and ensures a clean, stable base that won’t interfere with the other ingredients, guaranteeing consistent performance every time you spray.
Urea: This simple organic compound is a key humectant. It attracts and holds moisture, which is crucial for extending the effectiveness of our spray. By helping the treated surface remain slightly damp for a longer period, urea gives the potassium salts of fatty acids more time to break down the pest’s exoskeleton and enhances the lethality of the Diatomaceous Earth.
Potassium and Sodium Benzoate: These compounds act as a powerful unified preservative and stabilizer, with antimicrobial compounds that prevent the growth of microorganisms such as mold, yeast, and bacteria. They help maintain the ideal pH balance of the solution, preventing the growth of microbes and ensuring that the formula remains potent and effective over a long shelf life. They also contribute to the stability of the solution, keeping all ingredients mixed more evenly and ready to use.
An Effective Bug Spray with Zero-Impact on Your Surfaces
The most common fear for someone fighting a bed bug breach is: “Will the spray ruin my mattress, hardwood, or electronics?”
While traditional pyrethrins often use oily carriers that stain or corrode, Defensive End! BLITZ is engineered for “Invisible Defense.”
This means not only do you hardly notice it’s there, but it also cleans up easily and leaves no trace behind.
The “Clear Water” Carrier: The foundation of our formula is ~89.9% Purified Distilled Water. Unlike “Bug Bombs” that leave a greasy, chemical film, BLITZ applies cleanly and dries without a sticky residue.
Surface-Safe Active Ingredients: We use non-staining Amorphous Freshwater Silica and Potassium Salts of Fatty Acids—gentle agents that penetrate the bug’s waxy armor but respect your household finishes. This is effective on bed bugs and ants alike.
pH-Balanced Protection: We meticulously adjust every batch with Citric Acid to ensure the formula is non-corrosive, protecting floor finishes and furniture from “chemical burns.”

A Comprehensive Solution That’s Safe for Humans and the Environment
Many common household pesticides, like pyrethrins, are designed to be “neurotoxins,” meaning they attack the nervous system of insects. While they can be effective, they pose a risk to the ecosystem and non-target organisms.
Because of their chemical persistence, they can remain in the environment long after application. This can harm beneficial insects like pollinators, and even contaminate local water sources.
By understanding these risks, you can make a more informed choice to protect your family and environment.

Our mission is to give you peace of mind with a product that is just as effective as chemical sprays, but without the harmful side effects or damaged surfaces and ruined furniture.
We’ve harnessed the power of nature and science to create a bug spray that truly works for you and the planet.
Q: Will BLITZ stain my expensive mattress or white linens?
A: No. BLITZ is built on a distilled water base. It is engineered to dry clear and residue-free, unlike traditional pesticides that use yellowing oils.
Q: Is it safe to spray for bugs directly on hardwood or laminate flooring?
A: Yes. Our pH-balanced formula won’t cloud your wood floors, and the food-grade Xanthan Gum ensures the formula stays where you put it, including filling delicate cracks where bugs hide.
Q: Does the spray leave a “chemical” smell?
A: Not at all. We avoid VOCs and synthetic fragrances. There is no lingering toxic odor, so you don’t need a “gas mask” after application.
Q: Do I need to wash my floors after treating?
A: We recommend leaving the treatment in place. Since the ingredients are non-toxic, leaving the dry residual barrier provides the best long-term defense against emerging bugs. However, once you’re relatively sure they’re gone, you can clean it all up easily with a wet sponge or mop.
